Many of our members are passionate about different crafts. They are skilled and experienced and a fount of knowledge if you are looking for a new interest. Many of them meet monthly at Crafternooners and some of them have agreed to showcase their talents at our October monthly meeting.

CONTEMPORARY FLOWER ARRANGING
Angie Street
Angie spoke to us at our AGM meeting in November and demonstrated how to make four contemporary flower arrangements, each one using clever accessories and structures that make the designs simple to create.
Angie uses Flowers for Florists, a trade supplier which is also open to the general public - Eastbourne Road, South Godstone RH9 8JB.
As part of one her designs, Angie demonstrated the use of himmeli, which originated in Finland as a technique to make Christmas decorations. You can find out more about himmeli by clicking on the button below.

QUILTING
Jean Hogwood
I have been a quilter for about 10 years, making wall hangings, cushions and many bed quilts for my family and friends. Then I looked for smaller prices to do and making bags proved to be a great outlet for my urge to sew. I have made 4 bags for supermarket shopping and numerous toiletry bags for gifts. They are simple to make using small amounts of cotton fabric, some wadding and a sewing machine.
PATCHWORK
Sue McBain
Sue hopes to introduce you to EPP or English Paper Piecing. This method dates back to the second half of the 18th century. The technique involves sewing pieces of fabric over precut pieces of paper and then sewing the pieces together in a mosaic form.
As it’s a small project it can be done on the go as well as listening to the radio or even watching TV. Barbara Good of The Good Life never seemed to finish her quilt so that’s why it’s better for small projects and a great way to use up scraps. One of the best known pieced quilts is Jane Austen’s quilt. You can now buy the pattern and fabric to make your own just like hers!
CROSS STITCH
Clare Campbell
Cross stitch is a relaxing and therapeutic craft. I started when I was 16 after buying a simple kit at a craft fair and was hooked from then on. You can buy from a huge range of kits in shops and online. The fabric comes in all different sizes, and all kits come with everything you need. At the craft evening I have a variety of beginners Christmas kits for you to try, and I’m looking forward to showing you how to do cross stitch.
CROCHET
Suzanne Janman
Suzanne learnt how to crochet in lockdown, having admired the talents of other crafting members. Â She soon became adept at the skills required and has produced some remarkable pieces. Â She is looking forward to sharing her new-found passion with others.
ICING FLOWERS
Lucy Austin
Lucy learnt how to decorate cakes using royal icing in her teens.  She made many celebration cakes back in the day, creating beautiful, delicate flowers and other intricate patterns to ornate the fanciest of cakes.  She will show you how to mould the icing to make your own floral decorations on the night.
SPINNING
Debbie Brown
Debbie is a keen spinner and owner of several wheels. Â She says,Â
"Hi ladies- looking forward to our next get together for an evening of lovely crafts to share.
I will bring along a spinning wheel and some drop spindles for you to try out and have a varied display of lovely sheep’s fleeces and fibres, showing how to process these into something fabulous!!"
